SMPS Wichita Gathers Supplies for the Troops in Afghanistan

SMPS Wichita participated in a community service project to donate items for troops in Afghanistan.

SMPS Member Elisabeth Skibba's brother’s wife, Jessamyn Clark, is deployed to Afghanistan. This new unit is part of an international community and doesn’t receive packages like regular units, receiving packages through churches and other deployed soldier operations.  The unit is comprised of 35 soldiers, 9 of them women.

At SMPS Wichita's November luncheon, attendees brought items for the care package, ranging from food to toiletries to games to office supplies.

Community service and donation projects are something the SMPS Wichita board has decided to incorporate more of into their 2009-2010 program year.  When this need arose, it was apparent to several board members that the care package fit within the board's plans for member giving.

If you would like to put together a care package for this unit, items are welcome at anytime. Please email Elisabeth or call 316.295.8228 for more information.

At SMPS Wichita's November 19 meeting, members donated two large boxes of items.
